Oh Oscar...

I feel like you, Mr. De la Renta, are one of the last great designers left in the industry...but your name is painfully long so I am just going to call you OdlR from here on out. So, I just perused your Spring 2013 collection and I must say that I think the shoes are lovely! They have great color, feminine details, and they feel like SPRING! What a concept!

I'm really not quite sure what to call this style of shoe. Is it a SANDAL? How much of the foot has to be covered to call a shoe a BOOTIE? I'll be waiting for a stern, abrasive, explanation from the Fashion Overlords any moment. Whatever it is it looks like fun to wear, with added wind/debris protection for my ankles...these will be my battle shoes when the Overlords come looking for me. Sandootie? Boodal? Whatever...

Absence...

...makes the heart forget and have to reset passwords. Seriously. Though a pair of shoes may linger in my mind for months, my blogger password flies out of my brain faster than I can wave goodbye to my tax refund at Neiman Marcus. I prefer to think of it as unburdening my wallet. Anywhooo...

Do you see it? Someone else has to look at this shoe and see what I see....
Snuffleupagus.
Yeah, they trying to be very Cher circa her 70's Boho fabulousness, but all I see is..

Maybe I'm crazy. I mean, the fringe would swing somethin' fierce...but I just know that all of my friends would be hyperventilaughing (when you laugh so hard you can't breathe and have to mindlessly dig in your purse for your rescue inhaler) as they make Sesame Street jokes at my expense. Sorry Brian, you are always a hoot. Blame it on my childhood, that's what the therapists do.

I did it....

I opened an ETSY store and posted my first pair of embellished shoes. High five to me!

So...thoughts?

Valentino, My LOVE

If I could, I would only wear Valentino. The soft femininity and attention to details, makes this brand a personal favorite. There is always a demure sweetness to Valentino, but also a sense of luxury. Although his goods are widely available they are a better representation of glamour than some other brands that might sell for twice as much. Neon is rare, but the timeless style is always there. I know that Valentino shoes will NEVER go out of style, they will only become more valuable with time. There is no gimmick, just craftsmanship and exceptional design.
For my inaugural Valentino debut I have chosen something that is iconic, the Bow Detail, Half d'Orsay. If I had $700.00 right now I would buy these...in light purple. Yes, you heard correctly.....LAVENDER!
I  LOVE YOU VALENTINO!!!

I waited until the 5th post...

to give you a Louboutin. I know. I know. We ALL love Christian Louboutin. He is the hottest female shoe designer right now...it seems like every new shoe is even more whimsical and over the top...but I think all these fantastical designs are making me...ugh...................................exhausted.
Feathers! Crystals! Studs! Flowers! Neons!!...sometimes I wish he would just focus on one killer design at a time and give me some a few moments to process it. I need time to dream and drool....but I cannot deny my deep love and admiration of his brilliance. These shoes are as artful as any sculpture, though mass production has cheapened them a bit. So, I give you what I feel is a beautiful interpretation by the Louboutin army of designers....

She is simple, classic, and nude (the shoe color I have been pretty much obsessed with for years). Though they probably don't have quite the flash and heart flutter of the red crystal pumps they will be wearable forever...which is kind of important if I am dropping a grand on some fancy steppers.

The Details are the Naughtiest Part

Sometimes it is all about the detail.

Nude and Black is such an intrinsically sexy combination. These shoes are calling images of bare skin and black leather. I am grateful that Barbara Bui had the insite to add #58 to her new Winter 2010 accessories line. The dainty button such a marvelous detail, it adds a sense of restriction. The kind of detail adorning the back of a bridal gown or the cinching corset of a dominatrix. The first example being a cruel task for a amorous groom (Someone get that poor guy a crochet hook). The second suggests a kind of woman oozing power and sensuality...OH! I want to be her!! You too? Wear these....and do this stuff;
1) Take a few lesson in the art of  being a bitch.
2) Get a really high priced whip.

And really, whereas you only get one wedding day.....Every night is an opportunity to be a dominatrix.

Wrapped in Gold

ON my morning jot to work (barf!) I am forced to stroll by the very large and lovely Nordstroms in downtown Seattle. To my surprise I notice these golden knockouts hiding bashfully in the back of the window display. I see the layers of metallic leather and my whole day is changed. Who were these shoes by? Can I find them online or are the Nordy overlordettes just taunting me? Within 5 minutes of getting to my desk I find them and decide you too must see them. A little Grecian, and little cagey, and a lot of golden lusciousness.
Swoon.
